From childhood to adulthood...all these fantasies that we have been fed with...'Cindrella', 'Snow-white', 'Rapunzel'...each of these characters gets married and that's the end of the story. They say they lived happily ever after. O ' boy !! How badly we betray our own kids with such tales!
If I could , for once, had the liberty to re-write these, it would begin with, "Once upon a time, a princess got married. And then, she had to deal with....family, job, kids, in-laws, padosi, padosi ka bacha, dhobiwala, baai, boss, boss ki Mrs,...." Oh well! I guess you get the drift. Our stories need to be re-told that they hold value in today's society. If I had to narrate a story on Shakuntala or Sita, I would rather begin with a "See, this is what happens when you blindly trust strangers. Girl, fend for yourself, go out and get a job so that you know you have your own back when things don't work out in your favor! Also, full time motherhood is no less than a Superwoman status...just that they don't get paid monetarily. The least they deserve is regards of highest magnitude. Don't you settle for demeaning gestures from anyone!! "
Wing it, girls....your dreams...bharne dete hain inhein sapno ki udan!
