“When was the last time you did something for the first time?”
I know that is the most cliche line (the kind that you find on a poster hanging beside “Live, Laugh, Love”) but my answer to that is yesterday. Yesterday, I did something I am proud of and that question was the first thing that popped into my head.
A friend and I decided to rent a scooter and head to the neighbouring town to do a hike. When we got there, we noticed some locals rock climbing on the side of the mountain. We got closer & admired quietly until one of the climbers came over. Realizing that neither parties spoke the same language, he left and came back with an extra harness. It was an invitation, a challenge, to join. Two things came to mind: my outfit (which was overalls and sandals) and... how do I tell him that I have never rock climbed outdoors before? But I said yes. I put on climbing shoes sizes bigger than my feet and I climbed. Even when my overalls were on the verge of ripping and even when I kept saying “I don’t know where to go?!”, I climbed. And my proudest moment? I got to the damn top 👏🏼 (not without lots of swearing). I can’t believe I did it! My first time ever doing an outdoor climb and I am so freaking proud 🧗♀️😭. (Video/pics of my unsuitable outfit & ungraceful climb in my stories 😂😬).
