Day 6 of #30daysof30sports . . RESISTANCE TRAINING . . My Ortho told me to completely stop cardio to save my injured knees and absolutely love swimming to avoid any kind of permanent injury. Not that I don't respect his advice, but I know I cannot do without dance or zumba or HIIT, so I thought it's better to start working on those weak muscles to be able to dance for a longer time and fulfill my dream of doing an Ironman with my man . . Resistance bands are great way to build muscles. So we pledged to spend atleast 30mins without taking about Decathlon and discuss about the other hundred million interesting things in the world 😛 trust me it's too difficult 🤐 . . When in periods, it's very important to do some kind of light cardio exercises,yoga or pilates, so I chose light walking (something which I really enjoy with my husband). This reduces symptoms like cramping and muscular soreness, something I suffer a lot. My name is Kalyani Potekar and I'd begin by saying that 'sports is my life' and I can't imagine my journey without it. Since a very early age, I was fortunate to have exposed myself to as many sports as I can. Also, my list of sports following is pretty unnerving as far as me being a girl is concerned... no, not me, this is how the people I meet feel about my past experiences and choices. I'm a professional Motorcycle Racer and a passionate Horse Rider. Moreover, I love adventure sports and I've successfully completed basic training of paragliding, skiing, and mountaineering. I love the adrenaline rush when I race my bike at 270 mph. Coming to my career choices, Decathlon offers a plethora of opportunities for a sportsperson and nothing could've been better for me in this aspect where I continue working while still following my passion. Getting recruited here did not come easy because it demanded a physical test followed by a personal interview. My experience in sports came handy and I qualified in one go. Presently, I'm the Sports Leader for Equestrian Department. I must say that I'm amazed by the working environment there and feel motivated to reach greater heights in the near future . The highlights of my journey include : 1. Participation in the Jk Tyre Superbike championship and finishing 8th overall. -2018 2. Day 8 of the #30daysofatrilife . . Managed to do a quick Brick workout today post work. Completed a 40mins hard effort ride and then followed up with an easy 30min run💪🏽💪🏽 . . A Brick workout as the name suggests, is a workout where you do 2 disciplines ( normally bike followed by run) to acclimatize your body for the change in activity. Post a good bike session, your legs literally feel like bricks when you start running, hence the name BRICK workout ( i think😁) . Day 7 of the #30daysofatrilife . . While training for a triathlon, it is very easy to get worn out, out of excessive workout. Worst is the case where workouts become so rigid and monotonous with no room for any change . . Training or daily workouts have to be a process you enjoy, its a process where you get to know your body better and you gradually become a better and a wiser athlete. If the fun part is lost, then all you are left with is to drag yourself till a point you just give up!! . . Did a very easy paced short run today post work.
