Happy friday⚡️ I’ve got a three-day weekend ahead of me, and then an MUN trip to Leiden I’m so hypeddddd🤪🔥 Down to business, tho😌 - one of the most common excuses I hear for people not working out is “I don’t know where to start”🧐 Personally, I started with training with workout videos from @chodakowskaewa , and then moved on to the gym when I took a fitness class in my old school. But, here is a (more or less) step-by step guide on… —————————— 💫CREATING YOUR WORKOUT💫 ————— Remember: your workout has to take your age, goal, nutritional strategy, time, and fitness level into consideration ————— 1. GOAL: determine your goal - build muscle, lose weight, etc.
 2. TIME: consider the amount of time you have - remember, the less often you train, the longer it will take your results to show (do NOT overtrain though); 3. PLACE: where do you want to workout? Gym? Home? Outside? (home workouts usually mean bodyweight exercises)
 4. EXERCISES: For beginners, pick 5 exercises and work with these, and create a full-body routine you can do 2-3 times per week. The major muscles you want yout exercises to target are: - quads - butt and hamstrings - chest, shoulders, and triceps - back, biceps, and grip - core I split my training into three workouts: glutes + shoulders, chest + arms, legs + back + core. 5. SETS, REPS, AND WEIGHT: I do 3-4 sets of 8-15 reps per exercise. But, you should choose this based on your goals: - 1-5 reps: builds dense muscle and strength - 6-12 reps: builds a somewhat equal amount of muscular strength and size - 12+ reps: increases muscular endurance 6. REST BETWEEN SETS: The resting time between sets depends on your goal: - 1-3 Reps (lifting heavy for strength/power): 3-5 min rest - 4-7 Reps (lifting for strength): 2-3 min rest - 8-12 Reps (lifting for size/strength): 1-2 min rest - 13+ Reps (lifting for endurance): as much time as you need to recover

Keto always works for me”. - Think about that for a second. Seriously, think about that statement. I’ll wait……. - It really doesn’t make a ton of sense, does it? - If a diet is truly working for you, then why do you need to keep going back to it and starting it again? It seems to me if a diet, or way of eating, is “working” for you, there would be no need to go back and restart it over and over again. - Listen. - If you want to get off of the never-ending cycle of Yo -Yo dieting, then it might be time to take a look at why you have to keep restarting. - Is your current diet restricting calories too much? Is your current diet excluding foods or food groups? Is going out to eat a problem on your current diet? Is your current diet encouraging you to “Cheat”? - Any of the above is going to be difficult to maintain, and won’t set you up for success over the long haul. - The short term success you *may* experience will be short lived as evidenced by your frequent “re-starts”. - So it may be time to rethink what “it works for me” actually is. - Find a way of eating that: ✅Keeps you in a modest calorie deficit. ✅Allows you to include ALL foods. ✅Allows you to live your life. - No re-starts necessary. I no longer think about food all the time. I’m no longer obsessed with foods. I don’t dream about desserts or eating out. I don’t eliminate certain foods because I think they’re “bad” or they’ll make me fat. Yes I eat carbs. I eat fats. I eat sweets, junk food & restaurant foods. I don’t try to eat as little as I can, low calorie or starve myself. I don’t only eat vegetables & protein. The more I’ve increased my knowledge & understanding the easier everything has gotten. I never thought I would ever get to this point. I thought dieting was always going to be hard and difficult for someone who had always been so food focused. Now I’m much more relaxed. I have zero food stress. I’ve put all the coaching I’ve received, studying & bodybuilding experience to use. Energy balance really is king. Whether you’re cutting, bulking or maintaining calories matter. It’s not about one particular diet/diet strategy. They all pretty much work and the best one is the one that you enjoy & can stick to & sustain. I think all this takes time. It’s a learning experience & habit changes make a HUGE difference. Try to think more long term than short term. Practice discipline, patience & consistency. The more these characteristics are exercised the more things will fall into place. My biggest advice is to not give up. Just because you had an off day doesn’t mean everything is ruined. The journey will never be perfect. It’s not about perfection. Dead lifting is an exercise that I have avoided at all costs in the past. I hated them. They are by far my weakest lift and starting today that is going to change. I have never been embarrassed in the gym until this morning after realizing how weak my lower back is. My goal for yesterday’s workout was to get enough steps in to make up for the others days this week I didn’t hit my step count. I got close but didn’t quite hit it.
